Brief Biography of Zanefa Ngidi
Zanefa Ngidi, born on February 5, 1986, in Embizeni, Kwa-Maphumulo, near KwaDukuza in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, is a prominent maskandi musician known for his storytelling through music. He completed his secondary education at Velangezwi High School.
Ngidi began his musical career in the early 2000s and has released several albums since 2010. His debut album, “Umona,” released in 2010, earned him a nomination for Best Maskandi Album of the Year at the 2011 South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMA).
Zanefa Ngidi Maskandi Projects
Over the years, he has continued to contribute to the maskandi genre with albums such as “Amangwinya” (2011), “Ebusweni Bencwadi” (2012), “Kwanompumelelo” (2014), “Umalum’umbavumbavu” (2015), “Abahambe Osbali” (2017), “Amahliphihliphi” (2017), and “Inyoka Yami” (2020). In 2024, Ngidi released the single “Hello X Yami,” featuring Imfezemnyama.

Recently, Ngidi announced via his official Facebook page that his latest album, “Igcokama Elidala,” is set to be released on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. He shared the cover artwork of the project in his story with the tag “ngoLwesithathu iyaphuma,” indicating the album’s imminent release.
